Overview:
Many lights on the market that pair with music simply pulse lights along with a beat and are not very sophisticated. This doesn’t do much to enhance the listening experience and doesn’t cater to a wide range of music genres. So, the purpose of my lighting solution is to enhance the experience of listening to music in a more sophisticated way that considers specific genres of music and instruments being played in a song. The product is geared for young adults who are music fans.
The Music Enhancement Lamp uses Artificial Intelligence to listen to music being played and determine genres and instrument patterns in a song; it then chooses appropriate colors to display which enhance the listening experience. Specific color transitions and flash patterns are also determined based on the instrument patterns in a song.
The final model of the lamp is pictured above and featured in the video below. I made this model using felt, paper, and laser cut wood​​​​​​​; the lighting is controlled with an Arduino microcontroller and a NeoPixel LED strip.
